This one is very special. It makes most others offered for sale look abused. This is offered just as found-a little player wear on the back of the neck. At the'surfer chord' position. A few hard to see finish cracks in the outer finish, and a few inconsequential and easily repairable nicks are the only issues that keep it from being truly mint condition.

The metal parts, unlike many I've seen of this model, are in incredible condition with little pitting. The pearl white finish has yellowed beautifully over the last half century, and it is almost golden and irridescent in most lighting- very, very attractive. There were only 430 of these made, and the pearl white color was one of the most rare used by Semie-so you won't see too many of these in a lifetime, even if you go to international shows.
The serial number(B6xx stamped in fretboard) dates the guitar to 1966- but it has obviously received loving care. A pretty well preserved 47 year old, wouldn't you say? I consider it one of the nicest, most original and well preserved that I've ever seen on Ebay, or anywhere else for that matter. You can find one of these for less, but I can pretty much guarantee that they won't be as nearly as nice or unmolested as this one.
You will be proud to add this to and upgrade your collection. She's not perfect, but she doesn't pretend to be. This closet queen will be carefully packaged and shipped in her original gray hard shell case with black leather covered end caps. Also in pretty nice shape with the exceptions of a few dings to the covering. My photos(crap camera) really don't do this beauty her justice.the Mosrite'speed frets' show little wear. When the playability of this guitar is described by knowlegable players as'smooth and buttery' It's almost understatedly so. This is a very fine example of a particularly rare, quality-made, historically significant instrument and a very rare find for you.you won't be disappointed- a nice addition or upgrade for an.

Rare and discontinued. This one has approx 410 mm/ 16.14 in scale length. The overall length is about 67 cm/ 26.4 in. In my research. The model was made limitedly and sold only for Japanese Market. The guitar had a slight nut buzz.
So as temporary treatment I took off the nut and put a paper shim(s) under the nut to raise it. ELK MOSRITE VENTURES COPY GUITAR MADE IN JAPAN.
HIGH QUALITY. ELK CUSTOM MOSRITE VENTURES COPY SN: 6415 MADE IN JAPAN 1964 JET BLACK EXTREMELY RARE. A TRUE VINTAGE GUITAR. ABOUT THE INSTRUMENT: This is a must buy piece for the serious MOSRITE collector.
For those of us who love Mosrite guitars(and those made by the original guys from Mosrite) We respect the quality of the Mosrite pieces Made In Japan. Their quality is incredible. This one is the flip side of that.
It was a'reverse engineered' project where craftsman at the MIYUKI COMPANY in Japan created their own“ELK MOSRITE inspired” guitars beginning in 1967. Their guitars were“reverse engineered” as“replicas” in appearance to USA Mosrite guitars. They did not“counterfeit branded MOSRITE guys, they created their own ELK branded guitars“in the style of. The Mosrite” What is so amazing about these guitars is they are of such high quality.
Look at the pickup covers. Hardware, etc. They are molded to raise the“ELK” brand.
That is not an inexpensive thing to do. And every part of this guitar is of the highest quality material and is extremely well crafted. A lot of money was spent to produce only 50 guitars.
But it has made this guitar into a true collectible. Elk was a Japanese guitar. Amplifier and music-electronics brand during the 1960s and 1970s. Elk instruments were built by the Miyuki Company and were mostly distributed within Japan. Miyuki reportedly stopped making ELK amplifiers(and possibly the guitars as well) in the early 1970s and manufacture was taken over by Hoshino Gakki(the owners of the Ibanez brand) Our new friend. Joe(expat from USA) worked for ELK in Japan during the time this piece was made.
This is what he says about it in emails sent to us: I was trying to get in touch with you. I'll be glad to give you info about ELK Co. It was nice to see an ELK Double neck after so many years. They are very very rare. Is very personal to me. It was a magical time- the 6 1/2 years I spent in Japan.

Nice condition red. Plays nice straight neck.
Parachute markers, one of the coolest guitars you will find. A nice guitar for your collection. It is in overall excellent condition, it has some light scratches on the back and a small paint chip at the top of the horn. The back of neck is smooth, plays great. The name of this guitar derived from the switches’ ability to produce five tonal colors– a“spectrum of sound” which could be used alone or in any combination. For stereo output– bass through one channel. Treble through the other– two jacks were used.
Also has 6 individual pick ups. Whammy bar, mono or stereo switch tone and volume, two piece pick guard. One of the holy grails of Japanese Guitars.
If you are looking for this model, get one while you can. Sparkle candy apple red. You are bidding on a vintage Strad-O-Lin electric guitar, Made in Japan probably sometime during the late 60's early 70's? I had trouble finding out what brand/make this guitar was, but after some research and comparing pictures I found that it is a Strad-O-Lin. The emblem on the headstock is missing and the neck plate says Japan, unknown what model it is but they were imported by Multivox/Premier. The guitar itself is a very interesting piece as far as electronics go with a volume and tone knob, as well as three slide switches all mounted on a steel pickguard. I don't know what the switches do, on/off, maybe phase switches?
The electronics are suspect as I had went through this guitar as a restoration project the wiring looks intact but the confusion of the switches leaves some questions about everything working properly. It has been nicely detailed and set up with a fresh set of.009's. I have the switches set in a configuration where everything sounds good, but am selling this guitar as is due to my concerns about the electronics. Cosmetically the guitar has a nice sunburst body, however the body has several dings, scuffs, scratches, and chips with a few touch ups visible on the lower bout edges as pictured.
Looks like the original whammy bar that was attatched to the tremolo is missing as so many of them are with these types of units. The neck has some dings on the headstock which have been touched up as well as some noticeable fretwear, mainly on the first few frets, but they still have plenty of life left. Overall this guitar is quite an oddity, it is all original and looks and plays nice for being over 40 years old! If you have any questions feel free to ask. Eventually this pickup replaced the stock pickup in the white Mosrite and became the standard pickup in Johnny's other guitars as well. The original Mosrite pickups squealed and had constant feedback problems at the high stage volume the Ramones played at.
You will notice this. Pickup in the next few pages in other guitars. This pickup is still being manufactured today to the same specifications. Installing this pickup in your own guitar would be a good first step if you are trying to duplicate the Ramones live sound. You can order one here.

A couple of months back, we published that often get mislabeled under the general “Teisco” tag. As we learned then, there were all sorts of Japanese makers in that era engaging in a veritable arms race for who could market the wildest designs resulting in one of the most intriguing and confusing chapters in all of vintage guitar history.Today, we're revisiting this realm with a look at ten of the most exceptional vintage Japanese guitars for sale on Reverb right now. From beginner models and high–quality alternatives to popular American designs to a Yamaha that looks ripped straight from a Salvador Dali painting, these ten guitars represent the tip of the iceberg of the always fascinating arena of Circa 1970 Elk Galaxywas one of the few guitar brands that was never built for export. The Elk guitars were considered top tier, manufactured by Miyuki Electronic Corporation to complement its line of professional amps.Indeed, some of these guitars can go toe to toe with the American counterparts they draw their inspiration from.
Elk had its own factory in Tokyo until it burned down around 1968. Manufacturing switched to the famed Matsumoku plant, alongside such other brands as Ibanez and Greco. Teisco TG–64The so–called monkey grip has been a key, defining feature of Steve Vai’s signature since the late ‘80s, but beat Ibanez to the punch as early as the 1950s.The 1960s TG–64 was a top tier model for Teisco, though it falls just a little short of the spectacular Spectrum 5s. The TG–64 can certainly be a player, with nice pickups, a great vibrato arm, and some very cool sound selections via the three rocker switches and tone cut control. These guitars feature an offset body shape that should appeal to Jazzmaster or Jaguar players looking to add something a little different to their arsenal. Guyatone LG–350T Sharp 5The Sharp 5 was one of the first artist models produced in Japan, crafted to the specifications of Nobuhiro Mine of the band Sharp 5.
The rumor is that these were actually built by Yamaha for. These guitars feature some stunning craftsmanship, with two very Jaguar–esque pickups, a unique tremolo, and some Mosrite–inspired knobs. The guitar itself is gorgeous, with a lovely German carve sliding into its offset with binding around the body, neck, and headstock. These guitars are top quality players. As they were never made for export, it’s rare to see them outside of Japan.
